Good to know about going out in Perros-Guirec

Perros-Guirec owes its reputation to a particular geology: a pink granite that surfaces in rounded boulders, above all around Ploumanac'h, a part of the commune where the old customs path winds between the rocks just above the water. On either side, two broad beaches edge the town, and the harbour holds both fishing and pleasure boats. Offshore, the Sept-Îles archipelago is a bird reserve approached by boat.

The resort lives mostly off the warmer months: from spring to early autumn events gather on the seafront, the beaches and the harbour, with markets, open-air concerts, boat trips and maritime festivities. In winter, the visitors gone, the customs path becomes a residents' walk again, and the calendar rests on a handful of halls and on the associations of the Trégor.

In practice: the path between Perros-Guirec and Ploumanac'h is very busy at the height of summer, and it is best enjoyed early in the morning or late in the day, when the light brings out the colour of the granite. The coastal car parks fill quickly. The tide uncovers some beaches a long way out: check its times before a long walk on the sand.
