Good to know about going out in Moëlan-sur-Mer

Moëlan-sur-Mer is a commune with a discreet coastline. The village stayed inland, and the shore is reached at the end of narrow lanes: Brigneau, Merrien and Kerfany, three sheltered inlets where a handful of houses and a quay recall the days of the canneries and the sardine boats. The estuary of the Bélon, known for its oysters, separates the commune from its neighbour; a little further on, the Laïta marks the edge of Finistère.

Summer brings markets, open-air events and outings by the sea, but the commune stays quieter than the resorts nearby, and much of local life happens all year in the village halls and associations. In practice, the inlets are reached along lanes where passing is awkward and parking spaces are few, so arrive early — or walk in along the coastal path, which links the inlets to one another high above the water.
