Good to know about going out in Fouesnant

Fouesnant is part farming commune, part seaside resort. The town itself, with its church and its shops, stayed inland, while Beg-Meil, Cap-Coz and Mousterlin line the coast with long beaches that shelve gently, some tucked into the bay of La Forêt, others open to the sea. This is also apple and cider country, a long-standing reputation you meet again on the markets and at farms around. Offshore, the Glénan archipelago, which belongs to the commune, draws a line of islets visible on a clear day.

Summer transforms the place: the population rises sharply, and events, markets, open-air concerts and watersports gather between the beaches and the town. For the rest of the year local associations take over indoors, at a steadier pace. In practice, the three resorts are a fair distance from each other and from the town, so know where you are heading before you set off. Seafront car parks fill early in summer, and the coastal path lets you walk from one beach to the next.
